Allocations Information
The Optimizer programming remained primarily unchanged for February. Current programming includes maximizing turns and two-day trips and minimizing four-day trips while encouraging commutability. Minimize four-leg duty periods and refrain from placing a leg before redeye flying. Scheduled ground time on ODANs has been increased to a minimum of six hours versus the contractual minimums of 5:15 (domestic) and 5:30 (NIPD).
The Optimizer programming appears reasonable, but the outcome is generally disappointing. Last month, the issues we brought forward regarding excessive sit time on turns were not addressed, resulting in the same unproductive pairings for February. Concerns we discussed with allocations: lack of turns and two days, (especially high time), long duty days with short layovers, lengthy sit/connect times, increase in three-day pairings, and excessive legs per duty. We provided a list of pairings for review and improvement.
The transit initiative hours were expanded for February. Crews at DFW, CLT, PHX and ORD may be co-paired for most hub transits between 0900-2000. We continue to review the co-pairing initiative to improve crew reliability and operational complexity. We stressed to the company that trip construction, sequence duration, flexibility and quality of life for our members are our top priority.
DFW was allocated 337,926 hours for February, a decrease of 6,537 hours from January. AUS satellite base was given 1,486 hours, a reduction of 13 hours. STL satellite base was assigned 4,279 hours, a decrease of 24 hours from January. American is flying 81.7% of its block hours compared to February 2020.
