1.11.22 – An Update on Negotiations- January 11, 2022

Hello Everyone,
Our June 18, 2021, Negotiations Update communicated a new approach to bargaining. Using a strategic approach, discussions will target key areas where Flight Attendants need contractual improvements. Airlines negotiate under the guidance of the Railway Labor Act, and those negotiations can often be lengthy. Every predecessor airline that makes up American Airlines today has dealt with long, drawn-out negotiations, and you have made it clear that you want improvements as quickly as possible.

This week, your APFA Board of Directors, comprised of the eleven Base Presidents, along with your Negotiating Committee, and National Officers are meeting at APFA Headquarters. Discussions will focus on negotiations to align priorities as we move into the Scheduling, Rescheduling, Reserve, Compensation, Benefits, Sick, Vacation, Hours of Service, and International sections of the contract. Your Base Presidents are directly involved with contractual issues affecting your base, so it is imperative to solicit their input when forming proposals in negotiations. Your feedback will be analyzed and discussed to chart the path forward. Just over 10,000 Flight Attendants participated in the recent negotiations survey. Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback.
