Winter Storm Kenan
As we communicated in yesterday’s hotline, a powerful winter storm is forecast to hit the Northeast this weekend. The storm is expected to dump up to two feet of snow, in addition to dangerous high winds and blizzard conditions in some areas. There will be significant disruptions to air travel. Here is what we know so you can prepare for how this may impact your schedules.
The Company has notified APFA of their current plan to cancel all flights in and out of BOS, LGA, EWR, and JFK for tomorrow, Saturday, January 29th. There may also be a possible resumption of some turns out of those stations on Sunday, January 30th. PHL will likely have some cancellations as well. DCA and CLT are currently projected to operate as normal through the weekend. These cancellations will have a ripple effect throughout the system, so be aware of the contractual language regarding rescheduling. Here are several of our rescheduling sections of our Contract and two previous hotlines for you to review in the event you are subject to a reschedule:
- Prior to Report – Sequence Changes up to 3 days prior to origination –
JCBA 10.J.2.b. - Prior to Report – Sequence Changes within 3 days prior to origination –Â JCBA 10.J.2.c.
- After Report but Prior to Origination –Â JCBA 10.J.3.
- After Origination –Â JCBA 10.J.4.
- Return to Crew Base – JCBA 10.J.7.
- Lineholders Are Not to Be Treated as Reserves –Â JCBA 10.J.1
- Nor’easter to Impact Parts of East Coast with Snow and High Winds
- Winter Storm Izzy – Rescheduling Update
Since Winter Storm Kenan is hitting at the end of the contractual month, we want to highlight the rescheduling language in JCBA 10.L. which stipulates that a Flight Attendant on their last sequence/series of the month can only be rescheduled after origination. If the first leg of your sequence cancels, the Company may require you to split on to catch up to the balance of your scheduled flying.
Per the January 2022 COVID Cancellation Letter of Agreement, the Company may use electronic notification of sequence modifications up to two (2) days prior to report. Any changes to your sequence the day prior or day of report require a phone call to be made.
All LGA and BOS Flight Attendants with a Reserve day obligation tomorrow, Saturday, January 29th, will be given a RAP and then released for the day.
