An Update on the Federal Mask Mandate
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, APFA hasĀ endeavoredĀ to ensure our work environment is as safe as possible. In the early days, these enhancements included more frequent cleaning of our workspaces, contact tracing, and support for a pandemic leave program that afforded members compensation for missed sequences while testing positive for or being exposed to the virus.
The current federal mask mandate is in place through March 18, 2022.Ā Despite what you may have read or heard in recent news reports,Ā APFA has not taken any position on the issue. We continue to hear from Flight Attendants who would like the mandate lifted and those who prefer an extension. We have not received any update from public health officials or the Department of Transportation as of this writing.
APFA will continue to do what we have done since the onset of the pandemic: do all that we can to keep crewmembers and passengers safe and support our Flight Attendants in doing their job amid an uptick in violent onboard behavior.
