3.2.2022 – Private Trip Drops

Hello Everyone,

On Monday, Brady Byrnes, VP of Flight Service, announced that the New York base would conduct a temporary test to restrict private trip drops to prevent the abuse of seniority. The announcement was premature, and the test will not commence.

Any agreements to modify our bidding systems, even temporarily, must be approved by APFA Leadership. This is to ensure that the contractual protections are not eroded on a piecemeal basis.

This is a serious issue which concerns many Flight Attendants– the misuse of seniority provisions by certain Flight Attendants to bid for and give away trips they do not intend to fly. We are committed to finding a solution which balances the rights and flexibility of Flight Attendants with the goal of preventing the handful of Flight Attendants from abusing seniority provisions.
