Allocations Information

April has one schedule change at the beginning of the month and a minor schedule reduction over Easter. Overall, pairings have improved for April. Sequence durations are heading in the right direction, increasing turns and two-day trips, and decreasing three and four-day pairings. Sit/connect times have decreased month over month. Duty periods working three to four legs per day account for just 18.6% of all pairings, with most pairings working one to two legs per day (81.3%).

The company has continued to be proactive in scheduling layover rest to adhere to the anticipated ten-hour minimum crew rest requirement in the FAA’s final review process. Layover rests twelve-hours and higher account for 99% of April’s pairings. ODANs have increased substantially for April. The combination of lifting programming restrictions, aircraft routing, and bank operations produced the highest number of ODANs since May 2021. We realize that many flight attendants enjoy the flexibility ODANs provide. We will monitor open time throughout the month to ensure the base has the correct percentage of ODAN pairings.

The company expanded the transit initiative for April to include all hub and satellite bases. The premise of the transit initiative is to improve crew reliability and lessen operational complexities. Crews transiting through hub/satellite bases between 0900-2000 may be co-paired. Crew planning adjusted co-transit programming parameters to reduce sit/connect times and improve crew transit efficiency. We appreciate the programming changes for April and their effect on specific aspects of trip construction, but DFW’s pairings still need a great deal of improvement.

Issues we brought to the company include losing high time turns, lengthy and unnecessary sit/connect times, unproductive pairings worth minimal pay, loss of domestic widebody flying, and excessive sit/connect times before long flights. We provided problematic pairings for review and modifications. With spring and summer approaching, we stressed that flexibility is critical in balancing work and home obligations and providing our members a suitable quality of life.

DFW was allocated 353,703 block hours for April, an increase of 14,726 hours from March. AUS satellite base was given 1,491 hours, an increase of 2 hours. STL satellite base was assigned 4,438 hours, a decrease of 46 hours from March. American is flying 83.5% of its block hours compared to April 2019.
