May 2022 PHL Staffing and Allocations

The company has continued its process to build the May allocations to allow for the 10-hour FAR minimum layer rest requirement, which still hasn’t been required by the FAA.

Our sit times have improved slightly on some trips and then on others, there are three-plus hour sits on each duty period. We still have sequences with a long duty day followed by a short layover. We continue to point out the problematic sequences but have seen very little if any improvement.

The company has heard from us, as well as the members on the importance of maintaining ODANs in our bid sheets. We have two for May- BOS, and BDL.

For May we still have all the IPD flying with the addition of VCE. AMS has been upgraded to year-round and ATH has been extended to October 6th.

Italy requires vaccination for all crew members. Some NIPD destinations are requiring vaccinations. Please refer to the destination requirement in Comply for the most updated information on COVID restrictions and/or requirements.

PHL will see an increase in block hours for May. We will have 120,948 with PIT having 4,522.

LRD is now open with a projection of 338 reserves. The LRD does not include the new hires that are not eligible to bid in PBS but will be flying a full month in May.  We have indocs on April 18th, 24th, and May 2nd.

The system line average is projected at 81.0 hours, the reserve percentage systemwide is at 19.6. There will be no VLOAs offered for May.

WELCOME NEW FLIGHT ATTENDANTS
We are continuing to welcome new Flight Attendants to American Airlines and PHL. We welcomed 161 to PHL from the six classes that graduated in 2021 and 96 from the first six classes in 2022. We are expecting new hires from classes 7, 8, & 9.

The company has plans to continue hiring through June. As of right now, they will have 15 classes graduating in 2022.  We are hopeful we will continue to see new hires placed in PHL.
