ROTA Acknowledgements
On May 2, 2022, the Company eliminated the practice of making “Courtesy Calls” to Reserve Flight Attendants for awards and assignments. Since then, many of you have reached out to APFA after experiencing issues with acknowledging your Reserve Open Time Award/Assignment (ROTA) via mobileCCI. Flight Attendants have acknowledged their assignment, only to receive a Missed Trip (TM) because the system did not properly record the acknowledgement. To date, Attendance Flight Service Managers (AFSMs) are refusing to remove the TM in these situations.
APFA Contract & Scheduling Departments immediately contacted the Company and asked them to investigate the issue and to review each case. Based on the number of Flight Attendants who have told us they acknowledged ROTA awards/assignments only to discover they were removed with a TM, the Company has agreed to resume courtesy calls for ROTA immediately.
Until this is resolved, we encourage you to ONLY use Crew Portal to view and acknowledge ROTA awards and assignments as we believe the issues are primarily with mobileCCI.
JCBA Section 12.J.4. requires a Reserve to acknowledge ROTA awards/assignments prior to 2230 HBT. If you are called by crew scheduling after 2230 HBT to confirm acknowledgment of a ROTA award/assignment, please let the scheduler know whether you acknowledged using Crew Portal or mobileCCI, the time you acknowledged, and what device you used (e.g. iPhone, Android, EFB, PC, etc.). This will help identify the root cause of the issue and assist in taking action to fix the system.
There was a similar issue with mobileCCI in 2018 and 2019 and we cautioned Flight Attendants against using mobileCCI to view ROTA awards. Back then we also recommended only using Crew Portal to view and acknowledge ROTA awards/assignments. It is disappointing we have to make this same recommendation in 2022.
If you have a screen recording of an acknowledgment after May 2nd and received a courtesy call saying no acknowledgement was received, please send it to [email protected]. We hope for a quick identification and resolution of this issue and will communicate any updates as we receive them.
