Short-Term Disability Reminder
If you experience a qualifying disability that leaves you unable to work for an extended period, your optional short-term disability coverage will provide a portion of your income.
AA sponsored short-term disability insurance, MetLife, has a 7-day waiting period from the date of the disability or when your sick time is exhausted, whichever is later before your disability payments begin.
The process to begin your claim is:
Call MetLife: 888-533-6287, and select option 2.
You can find more information about your disability plan, access the forms online and complete a direct deposit form at my.aa.com/disability/.
The information they will need from you is:
- Dates of your treatment.
- Dates of your last day worked and paid.
- Your treating medical professionals contact information.
- Your flight service manager’s contact information.
If you also have the APFA Optional Short-Term Disability through Aflac®, your sick time does not have to be depleted to file your claim. Please use the forms on the APFA Health Department page as the employer section is prefilled out for you. You will need to attach an HI10 when filing your claim.
Please Note: APFA Flight Attendants who have a short-term disability policy through National Group Protection (NGP), please contact them at 800-344-9016 for more information.
