July 2022 Holiday Weekend NYC Preparedness Guide
As a reminder to our LGA based Flight Attendants, this is a holiday weekend with an expected high travel turnout. We understand the likelihood that this could result in several disruptions to schedules and frustrated crew members as you try to navigate through IROPS and the typical response we face from the company. To be forewarned is to be forearmed, as they say. It is your responsibility as a crew member to know your contract, and your NYC base council is prepared if you experience any urgent matters that need our immediate attention, even during the holiday weekend. Your LGA Base Council put together this handy guide to help you solve any issue you may encounter.
We encourage you to exchange contact information with one or more of your fellow crew members to facilitate communication during disruption.
Take screenshots, and document anything that might help you later if you find discrepancies between your experience and the company’s records.
For Hotel/Limo issues: American Airlines is responsible per our contract for providing and booking safe lodging for all flight attendants on-duty, including during scheduled training. We do not recommend booking your accommodation as there may be safety and contractual concerns with the hotel you book. We understand that at times, if circumstances are beyond your control, you must be made to keep yourself safe but remember, if you do not have a hotel at your destination, you are on duty until you have a confirmed hotel room. Your rest begins once you are safely behind your room door. Please always coordinate any needed changes to pick up due to rest with the Purser or FA1 on your pairing, and if you cannot contact them, call crew tracking.
If you have significant IPD delays, keep track of your delay time which will determine your contractual LE pay.
Who to Contact & In what order?
If you are possibly running late for sign in, regardless of the reason, contact the MOD for whichever airport your sequence originates.
LGA MOD: 718-476-4320
JFK MOD: 719-487-7882
EWR MOD: 973-961-4026
If you will or may miss your trip, call Crew Scheduling as soon as it is safe. Please do not put your life at risk by using mobile devices while driving or walking through busy subway stations. Stop and take a min or two to call scheduling.
Mid-pairing issues should be relayed to Crew Tracking: 800-VIP-CREW
Any issues getting ahold of a scheduler at either Crew Scheduling or Crew Tracking:
