Contract and Scheduling Hot Topics
We want to highlight some current Contract and Scheduling hot topics that warrant your awareness and attention based on recent trends. In this hotline we will address the following:
- Using mobileCCI to acknowledge Reserve assignments
- The inability to sign in due to a delay or cancellation
- Late Reports (LR) for Reserves
- AA Flight Service Official on Facebook
We strongly encourage you to continually review JCBA language as well as APFA hotlines and other resources so you are fully versed in your contractual rights.
Using mobileCCI to Acknowledge Reserve Assignments
Since the company ended the practice of making courtesy calls for Reserve ROTA assignments, we have seen an uptick in Flight Attendants receiving missed trips (TM) after acknowledging a ROTA assignment on mobileCCI. For this reason, we strongly encourage Reserve Flight Attendants to only use Crew Portal to acknowledge ROTA assignments.
If you choose to use mobileCCI to acknowledge an assignment, be sure to first refresh the app by pulling down on the home screen before clicking “Acknowledge”. We also recommend you follow up with a phone call to crew scheduling to verify you are showing as having acknowledged your assignment.

Unable to Sign in Due to Delay/Cancellation
We continue to hear from too many Flight Attendants who, when experiencing a delay or cancellation at the beginning of their sequence, are unable to sign in to begin their duty day.
- If you have reported to the airport for your scheduled trip and are not able to sign in due to a delay or cancellation at origination, call crew scheduling to make sure your original sign in time is recorded. This starts your duty day and begins the clock for any duty or trip rigs for your sequence (JCBA 10.J.2.e and 10.J.11.a).
- If your entire trip has cancelled, you may be entitled to call out pay. This pay applies even when crew scheduling attempts to notify you within three hours of report, provided you have already left for the airport. While it should be automatic, if they haven’t applied this contractual call out pay, call scheduling to have it added. Crew Comp (via Direct Connect) cannot add call out pay. This must be done by crew scheduling (JCBA 10.J.11.b).
Late Reports (LR) for Reserves
If you are on Reserve and receive a Late Report because you are called by Crew Scheduling to report to the airport within less than 2 hours to the scheduled report time of the sequence (3 hours in a co-terminal base), please check your HI10M in DECS to ensure any Late Reports are removed from your record. Late Reports are “auto-generated” whenever you sign in less than 1 hour prior to a domestic or NIPD sequence or less than 1 hour and 15 minutes (1:15) prior to an IPD sequence.
If you have a late report on your HI10M that is due to a last-minute Reserve call out, reach out to your AFSM to have it removed. If you are unable to resolve this directly with your AFSM, contact your APFA Base representatives for assistance.
Here’s how to access your HI10M in mobileCCI:

AA Flight Service Official (FSO) on Facebook
Many Flight Attendants use Flight Service’s official Facebook page to ask questions and gather information. Recent posts and comments from admins and management have caused concern and generated considerable feedback. The responses on FSO are often out of touch and make clear your concerns are falling on deaf ears. Management should receive feedback from Flight Attendants in a way that demonstrates a willingness to address our frustrations.
It’s imperative to remember FSO is a tool of management. The information shared represents the company’s position on contractual provisions and policy and is not always accurate. As your bargaining representative, APFA should be your source for answers if you have contractual questions.
While we disagree with the company threatening to forward posts and comments to the FSM of the person posting, know that may be the outcome of any interaction you have on this or any other social media platform.
