Winter 2022/2023 IPD Update
Those who know me know that I dislike carrying the company’s water for them. Since there hasn’t been an update from the base or network planning on the 2022/2023 winter IPD schedule, I asked for and received the following information from Brian Znotins, the VP of Network Planning:
The Winter 22/23 schedule is published. We had to make some late tweaks to PHLMAD due to Boeing delays, removing the flight for Sept/Oct. It’s slated to return at the end of Oct (winter IATA). But the rest of the flying is selling as we plan to operate. As always, there could be changes, but none are planned at this time.
The article about the 1,800-departure reduction is the media continuing to misunderstand our schedule process. We have bigger schedules out selling than we plan to fly, and when we publish our schedule, it looks like a big cut. Our plans for PHL this fall/winter are largely no different than they have been for this summer.
I reported in my September allocations brief that we were advised on the allocations call on August 3rd that MAD will suspend from September 5th to October 5th, with an October 5th return date. It now appears MAD will be suspended through October 28th. Things change fast and furiously around here, and the company is not very good at communicating this with the base leadership.
As of today, this is the 2022/2023 PHL winter IPD flying that is currently scheduled (click photo to enlarge):
I did throw PHL in the hat to operate the LHR-SEA sequence if it returns this winter. The following markets are currently scheduled to return this fall and winter: UVF, SLC, SXM, CZM, GCM, PLS and STT.
In Solidarity,
