Hello Contract ACTION Team!

Negotiations Update #16 was released on Saturday, August 13th. When you have a moment, we highly recommend you take some time to look it over.

With Labor Day fast approaching, we have the exciting opportunity for a solidarity action item. The Negotiating Team is counting on membership support to win our priorities at the bargaining table, and the Contract Action Team will be ready to pass the information to the membership! Stay tuned for more information on our next Action item coming your way in the next few weeks!

Starbucks Workers United is calling for allies to support their campaign by carrying out a mass mobilization of “sip-ins” at stores across the country this coming Labor Day Weekend. If you are interested in helping carry out or attending a sip-in, fill out this Google form. You will be connected with workers at the nearest unionized Starbucks!

What is a Sip-In?

A Sip-In involves a group of community allies wearing union shirts and buttons, spending as much time as permitted in a Starbucks café — after ordering drinks using union slogans as names and tipping well! The goal is to create a celebratory environment and connect with the workers and customers who could become community allies. Workers feel supported, managers feel watched, and community allies get to support the campaign tangibly. For the Sip-Ins being organized on Labor Day, community allies are also asked to further support the campaign by collecting signatures from customers on the #NoContractNoCoffee pledge, in which allies commit to taking direct action with workers in their fight for a union contract. The campaign has set a goal of gathering 30,000 signatures to the pledge over Labor Day Weekend. We need your solidarity and action to make it happen!

This will be the largest single mobilization of community allies of Starbucks workers yet. We would love to have a strong APFA presence to show that Flight Attendants like their coffee Union Strong. Share the link amongst your friends and see if you can get a group to attend with you in base, at home, or even on a layover!
