October 2022 Staffing and Allocations

All,

For October, Miami will see a 2.2% increase in overall block hours. Our total headcount is 3,103. (2,380 Lineholders and 552 projected Reserves). The Reserve percentage for October is projected at 18.8%. This is a 2.2% decrease from September with 63 less heads. The data used to determine the required number of Reserve heads is gathered from October of 2019, and Reserve behavior beginning in January of 2022, through July of 2022. The Company identified the drivers to include sick calls, weather (IROPS/ATC), emergency off/leaves after bid, legalities, open time build, and unscheduled aircraft out of service. Hopefully this downward trend will continue.

The transfer list once again for November has been cleared. This means we will continue to receive new hires out of training. Miami will receive 45 new hires in late September which will be serving a full month of Reserve in October. These numbers will not be reflected in the LRD tool, but will not be in addition to the 552 projected Reserve heads for October. The Company has also announced classes through the end of November. Miami should anticipate receiving new hires on a weekly basis throughout this period. The Company has also indicated they plan to continue hiring through 2023.

The Company has reduced the amount of overall three-plus sit times to 3.3% This is down from 10.8% in January. This along with a decrease in the max duty day, has resulted in an increase in 3-day trips. Also contributing to the increase is the 11-hour minimum scheduled rest built into the pairings. Unfortunately we are still waiting on the FAA to implement the 10-hour minimum rest in actual operations where it is needed most.

There will be a schedule change on October 6th. This will increase frequencies in certain markets, and decrease in other markets. The IATA (International Transport Air Association) winter schedule will begin October 30th. Airlines are required to submit their slot requests for the summer and winter seasons. The IATA conference is held twice a year and slots are allocated and finalized for each season. This will cause an increase in the Deep South markets, as the flying repositions for the winter schedule.

There will be 75 scheduled charters system-wide. They will include major college football games. Extra sections will also be added for select NFL games.

GRU will add a second daily departure beginning on October 29th. MVD will begin operating three weekly flights beginning on October 30th. There will be the possibility of MVD operating daily during the holiday months, but that decision has not been finalized. LHR will begin operating a second daily departure on October 29th, and CDG will resume daily service on October 29th.

The plan for November is to operate MVD and EZE as Rockets. The October allocations includes this change at the end of the month. This is preliminary and is subject to change based on any adjustments to the departure times. GIG and GRU will continue to have the double layovers.

There is not much change from September in the allocated Domestic wide-body flying. JFK will operate a daily 1/1 on the 777-200. PHL will operate a daily 1/1 on the 787-8, and LAX will operate a daily turn on the 777-200.
