October 2022 Update
Happy October, Chicago! APFA announced last week that we are #ReadyforACTION and will hold informational pickets across our bases on November 15th. Let us show support for our Negotiating Committee as we pursue a Contract that recognizes our contributions to the success of this Company. We hope to see many of you in Chicago. This picket is our first opportunity in years to show up and make our voices heard. Even if you are flying, this will be a systemwide event. You can attend at any base on November 15th! We hope to see you there! Keep your eye on your emails for more information as the date gets closer.
Union Dues
Many of you may have seen a recent hotline from the APFA National Treasurer indicating that around 30% of our members are in dues arrears. Over 700 people in Chicago owe over $200,000 combined. Most of the time, people don’t realize this, as they could be in arrears from a leave, medical absence, flying low time, etc.
It has never been easier to check your account and see if you are up to date on your dues. Log into APFA.org and click “My Account” in the top right. Here you will be able to view any outstanding balance you may have.
If you have any questions regarding your balance or have issues logging in to review your account, contact the Dues Department at [email protected] or at 817-540-0108, ext. 3.
Union Representation
JCBA Section 35.R. defines your contractual right to have Union Representation present for all meetings with the Company. This includes your Attendance Flight Service Manager (AFSM), FSM, HR and Corporate Security. We are here to support you! You are entitled to union representation. You never need to go into a disciplinary meeting alone. If needed, reach out to local reps prior to these meetings.
Deadhead Reminders
With the SEA-LHR trip next month, many trips include deadheads. Be familiar with the processes if you plan on deviating from your scheduled deadhead. Here is a previous hotline that has a variety of scenarios when it comes to deadhead flexibilities: Deadheading Flexibility Scenarios & Important Deadheading Reminders
AFSM Contact Information
The Attendance Flight Service Manager program continues to evolve. A new singular email address has been created to try and respond in a more acceptable manner. In addition to your AFSM, this email will be monitored by Flight Service administrators in Dallas. The new email address for Chicago is [email protected].
Holiday Incentive Period
Earlier this year, your APFA National and Base Leadership secured a Letter of Agreement (LOA) that includes permanent contractual improvements to the holiday pay provisions contained in JCBA 3.J.
Holiday pay will be paid to all Flight Attendants, both Reserves and Lineholders, working on a designated holiday, regardless of how you obtained the trip.
Working on these days will trigger additional pay. This payment is not attached to any perfect attendance period. Please review the recent hotline for the incentive dates and various examples. New Contractual Holiday Pay Begins in November
