11.01.22 – APFA PHL Base Brief – A Message From Tracey and John
Tuesday, November 1, 2022
Dear Philadelphia Flight Attendants,
If history has taught us anything, it has taught us that change can and will come swiftly.
On November 1st, Kim Kaswinkel, PHL Base President, moved into a new role as an APFA Regional Representative, and I assumed the role of Interim PHL Base President. PHL F/A John Pratt has graciously agreed to serve as the PHL Base Interim Vice President. Many of our members already know John. John has been our PHL PBS Specialist for some time now and will continue to work with the incoming New Hire F/A’s. His knowledge of the scheduling system and contract will be an invaluable asset.
Along with Kim’s transition to Regional Representative, our full-time Base Council Rep, Dan Sampey, will also be transitioning to a Regional Representative role. Dan has agreed to continue to review our monthly allocations and staffing needs.
In many ways, you will not feel much has changed. In other words, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” We will continue to utilize our resources in contract enforcement with an added emphasis on contract education. The PHL base has a rich history in Unionism, and our members can expect that will continue as we move forward.
Our increased visibility in PHL will continue, and we look forward to planning virtual base meetings for our members. Communication is key.
As contract negotiations continue, you can expect Contract ACTION Events to ramp up here in PHL and throughout our system, beginning with our Picket Event on November 15th, 2022. We are ready to take the next steps, standing shoulder to shoulder, fighting for a fair and equitable contract. We will continue to work with all labor groups to strengthen our collective bargaining power. Look for more information on this event in the coming weeks, and we look forward to seeing everyone there!
In closing, we wish Kim and Dan all the best in their new roles. We have all benefited from their dedication and hard work for the PHL base.
We are and will continue to be PHL STRONG!
In Solidarity,
Tracey Montanari
