11.12.22 – APFA LGA Base Brief – Remembering Our Colleagues: AA 587 – November 12, 2001
Saturday, November 12, 2022
As we approach yet another anniversary of that dreadful day, I would like to convey the meaning each of you has in our hearts and lives. I had just completed my probationary period as a new hire when we faced a tremendous loss two months after the horrific attacks of 9/11. The world was searching for a way to accept the unimaginable. Then that dreadful morning, what we thought could not be relieved became our reality with your loss.
Days after this tragic event, I began speaking to many flight attendants who had already spent a career with each of you. I learned how unique you each were in your own way. At the time, we were 23,000, and today the number may have changed, but the grace left upon our workforce by your life will forever be remembered.
For me, honoring each of you is an honor. Deborah, Barbara, Wilmer, Carol, Joe, Michele, and William, we love and miss you, and until we meet again, you will forever live in our minds and hearts.
In Unity, forever,
Christian M. Santana
