Happy Holidays

It’s that time of year when we take time to spend with family and friends celebrating the season. As Flight Attendants, we have dedicated our lives to caring for others on their journey despite the weather, schedule disruptions, long days and nights, and hotel hiccups.

We want to take this time to say THANK YOU! This airline could not operate without you and your constant dedication to keeping us in the air so our customers can be with their families. Your work is incredibly valuable, and it is most appreciated every day.

Here are a few reminders to help us through this hectic travel season:

One of the best tools at our disposal is our Contract, especially JCBA Section 10.J. of our Contract. In an irregular operation, all roads lead to Section 10.J.

JCBA Section 10.J. addresses:

• Reschedule Prior to Report
• Reschedule After Report but Prior to Sequence Origination
• Return to Crew Base
• More Than a Three (3) Hour Delay (After Report)
• Equipment Substitution
• Section 10.K. Addresses Illegal Through No Fault
• Section 10.L. Addresses Last Sequence of The Month (Pay Protections)

The Contract is available online at apfa.org and also via our EFB in Comply365 in the Document Library.

Operations aside, this time of the year can run the gambit of emotions for our crews. For some, it’s the excitement of the holiday season, and for others, it’s a very difficult time of the year.

Our newest colleagues may find their new flying schedule a challenge, especially if it’s the first time they have to be away from their loved ones.

As Flight Attendants, we are expert “Care Givers” for our passengers. Let us also be mindful of all our coworkers who may find the holiday season a difficult time of the year.
