DEL Crew Update

To the Flight Attendants healing in New Delhi;
Your fAAmily in New York is committed to seeing your quick recovery and return. We will stay ready to support you and your loved ones in any way possible.

On January 9, while on a layover excursion, a group of Flight Attendants and Pilots were involved in an accident. I was notified immediately, and between APFA safety, management, and every department we could engage in, we began doing everything we could to ensure our colleagues had the necessary attention and support. I requested that management deploy the CIRT team, although the Care Team and several members of management were already deployed to assist. We still have three of our colleagues in New Delhi receiving care, and as soon as they are well enough to return to the US, we are prepared to facilitate a comfortable return. Please rest assured that I will not take my hands off their care and will ensure all resources are available.

While we all want to show support in one way or another, respect and privacy are fundamental during a crisis. We should respect our colleague’s families by not sharing graphic images on social media where anyone can see them. Please keep all of them in your thoughts for a speedy recovery. I am grateful to our National President, Julie Hedrick, for working with me immediately. These incidents take a village to get through, and I appreciate the communication from the Flight Attendant Andrea Golding, Rudy Lopez, and others who relayed critical information. The relationship with local management here in New York must always serve the interest of our Flight Attendants. I truly appreciate the immediate response and availability of resources from the team locally and from the region. We will continue to work closely to provide all the support needed to Flight Attendants and those affected by this.

Here in New York, we take care of one another. The return of our colleagues currently still in DEL is my top priority.

Please remember that you may always call the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) at 800-998-8194 and our local EAP representative Mark Bird at 415-794-3076.

In Solidarity,
