Willingness-To-Serve Notification for Base Representative Elections

On December 19, 2022, the National Ballot Committee posted the Willingness-to-Serve (WTS) for Base President, Base Vice President, and Base Council Representative (BCR) for BOS, CLT, DCA, DFW, LAX, LGA, MIA, ORD, PHL, and PHX.

Willingness-to-Serve notifications must be electronically submitted to APFA by tomorrow, January 18, 2023, at 1000 (CT). Paper submissions will not be accepted. Please follow all instructions on the form to correctly submit your WTS.

Ballots will be mailed to the membership on February 7, 2023. All votes must be received by March 9, 2023 at 1000 (CT). If you have any questions, please get in touch with the National Ballot Committee at [email protected].

Virtual Candidate Forum  **New Time**

On January 19, 2023, at 1100 (CT), the National Ballot Committee and APFA National Secretary Josh Black will hold a virtual candidate forum. All candidates are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the election process and ask questions.

A link to the Candidate Forum will be sent to all candidates after the WTS verification process is completed on January 18.

Keep an eye out for the redesigned elections page on APFA.org throughout the election. We will be adding candidate information/booklets as well as a link for anyone who needs to request a duplicate ballot.

Voter Information

To vote, each APFA member must be a member in good standing no later than five (5) days before the date the votes are counted (“balloting date”). The balloting date is March 9, 2023; therefore, you must be in good standing by March 6, 2023. A member will also be eligible to vote if an official APFA payment plan was executed at least thirty (30) days before the balloting date by February 7, 2023, for the election.

SFO Base Transition or Transferring Bases on/before March of 2023
For our SFO members transitioning to new bases in early 2023, if you are interested in submitting a Willingness-to-Serve at your new base, please indicate your new base on the form.

For any member interested in running for office, the APFA Policy Manual Section 14.J.3. states that you must be permanently based at the base you apply to represent on the date the ballots are counted, March 9, 2023.

For the members who will be transferring bases in early 2023, per the APFA Policy Manual Section 14.K.5., your Base Officer Representative ballot will be sent for the base in which you are based on the day the ballots are counted, which will be March 9, 2023.

Candidate Booklets
Candidate booklets will be available to all members on the Union Elections page of APFA.org on February 7, 2023 (the day the ballots are mailed). A QR code on the voter information page included with your ballot will also be printed that you can scan, which will take you directly to the candidate booklets. Candidate information will be available to you throughout the balloting period. You may print the information from APFA.org.

Update Your Address With APFA
The APFA National Ballot Committee reminds every member to ensure that APFA has your correct mailing address to receive an election ballot. Even though you may have updated your address with the Company, American Airlines does not share that information with APFA. This is especially important for members who moved or relocated recently.
