Legislative Action Day

On February 8th, Charlotte sent a delegation to the AFL-CIO’s Legislative Action Day in Raleigh, NC. The state legislature is slated to begin the “Long Session” for our lawmakers, and there are several issues Labor needs to address in this session. Our delegates joined forces with hundreds of Union workers across the state to discuss these topics. They took a crash course on lobbying, made new connections with lawmakers from both parties, and strengthened existing ones. We had discussions with lawmakers about how airlines can better protect against human trafficking and our concerns with state worker’s compensation laws. The conference included topics such as expanding broadband to rural areas of the state and expanding Medicare to over half a million North Carolinians who cannot afford health insurance.

This was a fantastic conference and a great opportunity to work with other Labor Unions to strengthen and advance workers’ quality of life in our state. The next event will be in Charlotte next Saturday, February 18th, where we will be breaking bread with our representatives and Union kin. We would also like to announce our first labor reading group, bit.ly/cmlcbookclub. The group will meet once a month to discuss books related to Labor’s true history. Free books for the first to sign up.

Reminder: Training Modules Due March 20th, 2023

Flight Service Quarterly Training Modules are due March 20th. Please make sure you meet the deadline to avoid a missed assignment and possible discipline.

*Important- You should complete the modules in order, as the final module has a knowledge check regarding the operational reliability section and the departure procedures.

You will be paid after completing all modules as outlined in the JCBA Section 29.E.3. You will see the pay in the month after you complete the WBT. If you have concerns regarding the assigned WBT, please reach out to the Training Support Desk at 1-800-VIP-CREW, Option 6 and then 1.

If you are on a leave of absence and not active, the modules will load automatically when you return to active/qualified status. You will then need to complete the modules within 60 days of the return.
