April 2023 PHL Staffing and Allocations

Hello PHL –

Our April Staffing and Allocations call took place on Friday, March 3rd. There is a slight improvement in the trip quality, but we still see some long sit times. We will continue to advocate for better sequence construction. Our Reserve percentage is down from 19.1% in April of last year to 17.6% this year. Overall, PHL gained 6,496 flight hours for April. It’s a very slight improvement, but we’ll take it!

New Hires – We welcomed Class 23-01 on Monday, 2/27/23, and expect New Hire Flight Attendants to come to PHL every Monday in March and throughout April. It’s always a pleasure to see growth in our base!

PIT – The satellite base lost some time and will have 4,720 flight hours. The 1-day trips are reduced a bit, and almost all other flying is 2-days with very few 3-day sequences.

IPD – Our IPD schedule has returned with 12 daily departures. FCO, LHR, LIS, and AMS will be flown on the 787-9, which means there will be an additional bid position on those flights. We continue expressing our interest in the SEA-LHR flights returning to PHL.

ODANs – BOS and PIT are the ODANS we have for April. Please remember that you will need a minimum of 11+30 min from release to report to fly two or more ODANs in a row. (BOS does not allow this).

2023-24 Vacation Bidding – Any vacation days not bid or awarded in the primary round will be available to bid in the secondary round.

Heads Up – Remember that on April 3rd, the Gate Agents will be responsible for closing the boarding door. Should the Agent close the door without a verbal confirmation from the Lead Flight Attendant/Purser, it is a violation of FAR 121.589 and also AA safety policy. To report the violation, file a Cabin ASAP indicating it is due to a recent policy change and a possible FAR violation. Contract ACTION Team – We will continue to have Action Events scheduled until we get a new contract. Tuesday, April 4th is our next systemwide picketing event. Come join us, and make sure you bid the day off!
