Negotiations Update #22
Economic Proposal
On Tuesday, March 7th, your APFA Negotiating Committee presented an economic proposal to the company. Our comprehensive economic proposal includes all remaining sections of the agreement including:
- Section 3- Compensation
- Section 4- Expenses
- Section 8- Vacation
- Section 9- Sick Leave
- Section 26- Insurance, Retirement, and Other Benefits
- Section 29- Training
- New– Profit Sharing
This proposal includes healthy increases in a variety of economic areas. This is our first full negotiation under Section 6 of the Railway Labor Act in over two decades, and we intend to fight for improvements for all Flight Attendants. We are publishing details of our economic proposal below as we believe all Members have the right to know what we are fighting for. This contract belongs to all of us.
In putting together our economic proposals, your Negotiating Committee looked at other Flight Attendant contracts in the industry, the economic conditions, including inflation, the length of time of bargaining, survey results, and the overall value of the Agreement.
Members need to be aware this is an opening proposal, and we will have lots of bargaining to end up with our final economic package. We anticipate the Company’s position will be quite different than ours on compensation and other economic terms. What we end up with will be determined by how hard and smart we fight.
The company will analyze our economic proposal. These economic proposals, along with the open unresolved issues from earlier in bargaining, will provide the basis for our bargaining going forward.
