3.26.23 – APFA PHL Base Brief – Temporary Madrid Suspension
Sunday, March 26, 2023
Hello PHL,
Last night, we were made aware of social media blogs and news outlets reporting that the PHL-MAD flight is scheduled to be suspended for over a month. First thing in the morning, phone calls were made to the Company in an attempt to validate and confirm the information posted. As of today, here is what we know:In Sabre, PHL-MAD will not operate starting on 5/5/23 and is scheduled to return on 6/10/23. Based on our best estimates, this will result in a loss of approximately seven lines of IPD flying and affect an estimated 56 F/A’s during that time.
It is not acceptable that we found out about this via social media and not officially from the Company. Our next allocations call is on April 3rd, and we will have specific numbers and information after that call. Each month we are on a call with the Company where the flying allocations/staffing are discussed for the following month. On our last call, 3/3/23, there was no discussion about any changes or suspension of international flights for our base. Rest assured this will be addressed on our next call on 4/3/23.
In Solidarity,
