3.31.23 – APFA DCA Base Brief – Friday, March 31, 2023
Friday, March 31, 2023
DCA Flight Attendants,
The 2021-2023 base council term is ending, and the new term will begin April 1, 2023 through March 31, 2025.
I would like to THANK Vice President Dianne Britton and our 2021-2023 base council representatives for their service in assisting me and most important our DCA flight attendants.
The past two years have seen many changes and challenges in our base and career, but our council reps have always stepped up and been there along the way to help. The saying “It takes a village.” is so true when doing union work!
A special Thanks to volunteers Claudia Frye, Charlotte Lewis, Gaby Jimenez and Litra Simms for their tireless assistance with Employee Assistance/Pro Standards and Critical Incident.
Liz Martin and Beth Janvier for the endless help with PBS inquiries and bidding strategies and Aviel Levy for assisting with our New Hire Indoctrinations. -THANK YOU ALL!

Your APFA reps have pledged to serve you – the membership. We are committed and will be here for you the DCA Flight Attendants to make sure everyone is heard and represented.
I personally have pledged to be your voice and representative and look forward to both the challenges and victories that lie ahead for us!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to continue as your Base President and to serve this wonderful DCA/IAD/BWI co terminal base!
It’s a privilege and an honor to do so! – Thank you
The coming months will see us actively engaged in our quest for a new and improved contract. Our hopes are that we all unite and let the company know its time for change. We deserve a better quality of life, the return of flexibility, Wage increases, and better work rules are a must, this all begins on the picketing line. Please join your APFA contract action team and local base leadership for the next round of picketing scheduled for April 4, 2023, 11a-1p, North Terrace -Ticketing level at the DCA airport
We have been subject to an unjust attendance and performance program, constant contract violations from crew schedule and tracking and an absolute unacceptable hotel limo desk. We have been working under an expired contract for years and Its time!!
ARE YOU READY? WE ARE READY!

A Message from Your DCA Base Vice President
Our award winning DCA is an amazing Tri-Base for many reasons.
- Whether flying out of BWI, DCA, or IAD, we are fortunate to have a variety of backgrounds, seniorities, and diversity.
- Our Flight Attendants speak up. For example, you have made it clear that “enough is enough” when it comes to the decline in the quality of Trip Construction, and ongoing Contractual Violations. Let alone the huge loss of Scheduling Flexibilities we all miss.
- Even when exhausted and discouraged, we have stood shoulder to shoulder in solidarity. Covering everything from the devastation of 9/11, passionate Picketing Events, heartbreaking Memorials, and a relentless Pandemic.
There is still much to be done.
With your valuable input, along with our persistent DCA President, and talented Base Council Representatives, we will continue to work on your behalf.
As we embark on the next term, thank you for entrusting us with this honor.
“We Are Ready!”
In Strength & Solidarity Always,
Dianne “Di” Britton
