Happy May Chicago!
Summer 2023 is already upon us. There continues to be a steady stream of new hires being sent to Chicago from Dallas, we love to see it! There are approximately 60 coming in the first 4 weeks of May.
Wednesday was the Staffing and Allocation call with the company for the June bid month.
Please remember that the June bid month ends July 1st. July 1-7 is considered a critical period in the Attendance and Performance <hyperlink please> program. Chargeable absences during this period accrue one additional attendance point. If you have zero absences during this period, you can accrue one Banked Point to be applied to future absences.
Highlights
- No Domestic widebody flying for June
- ANC continues to be flown daily. Be sure to search “red eye” in PBS if you want to bid ANC as there is a red eye at the end of the sequence
- IPD flying for June: 4 LHR, FCO, BCN, CDG and DUB.
- CDG departure is 2049 all month
Important Dates to Remember
- July 1st start of Critical Period for Attendance
- Father’s Day June 18th
- Juneteenth June 19th
Staffing
Systemwide RSV is 21.2% vs system percentage of 22.3%. This percentage is lower than June of 2022, which was 22.8% for Chicago.
The expected line average for Chicago at PBS open is 82.3 vs systemwide PBS open of 82.2. This higher number is driven by an increase in hours due to summer flying. Base presidents voiced strong opinions, as we always do, for lower line averages. We will continue to drive that home. Especially with summer upon us, we need the flexibility to bid low and/or fly less.
Trip Construction
- 1-Day: 24% in June vs 24% in May
- 2-Day: 28% in June vs 29% in May
- 3-Day: 44% in June vs 43% in May
- 4-Day 4% in June vs 4% in May
- ODAN starts per day: 18.4 in June vs 18.6 in May
We welcomed 84 new hires to the base in June. Remember the Flight Attendants who positively touched your life when you began flying and be that mentor to the newest members of our Chicago family.
