Allocations Information:

DFW received 390,113 block hours in June, an increase of 7,986 hours from May. STL satellite has 4,355 hours, whereas AUS will have 1,488 hours for June.

Summer flying is in full swing, starting with the June network peak schedule. Systemwide block hours have increased by over 6% yearly and 4% month-over-month. With the increase in flying, our summer seasonal routes have returned, providing exciting flying opportunities for our base. Some highlights for June include two (2) daily flights to CDG and FCO, ANC pairings with longer layovers, and high time Caribbean turns, many operating daily. PVG governmental restrictions have been lifted, approving four (4) flights a week for DFW.

We are pleased with the ratio of trip types for June, with turns and two-days accounting for 66% of all domestic and NIPD pairings. The base always emphasizes to manage the need for scheduling flexibility, especially during the summer. One and two-day trips often allow Flight Attendants to better manage schedules to accommodate personal responsibilities and family obligations.

Overall, pairings have improved for June, with decreases in lengthy sit times, four-leg days, and trips with less than twelve-hour layovers. Of course, there are always problematic pairings, and we voiced our concerns regarding trips working excessive legs multiple days in a row. We stressed to the company that the hot summer weather and high passenger loads make our job even more challenging this time of the year. Building pairings with reasonable working conditions can only improve morale and customer service.

Base leadership remains steadfast in holding the company accountable when determining monthly reserve numbers. After stating on the manning call that they have seen positive reserve utilization and absenteeism trends, our reserve percentages increased by 1.8% for June, with an additional 144 Flight Attendants on reserve compared to May. It is the position of the base that reserve numbers should be decreasing each month as staffing levels have stabilized with the influx of new hire Flight Attendants. We have asked Crew Workforce and Schedule Planning to present monthly statistical data explaining the specifications for determining DFW reserve percentages.

We also stated reserve in DFW is an extension of LAX and PHX reserve lists. We strongly advocated that the company should open LAX and PHX bases for more Flight Attendants, especially to allow those who were relocated to return home.

Every month, APFA asks the company to reduce the number of Reserves and increase the number of Lineholders. This would also lower the line average and increase bidder satisfaction with PBS. It would also lower the amount of open time after PBS closes which would allow for more flexibility with trading trips in TTS and UBL.

The argument of increased SK numbers, IROPs, holidays or even DFW being centrally located to cover the system are no longer valid justifications for the continually growing DFW reserve numbers.

With all of this being said, we are calling you to action. Email the following members of management and ask why OT is high when PBS closes, why there are system sequences continuously being created, why the company continues to camouflage the flying with the hours assigned to DFW with DH on either end, why NIPD and speaker usage is not being better utilized, and why DFW reserves continue to be exploited. The company cannot simply take a step back, listen to APFA and truly work to find an advantageous solution.
