5.17.23 – APFA PHL Base Brief – May 2023 PHL Reserve Flex Error
May 2023 PHL Reserve Flex Error
Wednesday, May 17, 2023
Hello PHL,
Recently, we were notified of an anomaly on the HI1s for May for PHL based Reserve Flight Attendants. In the header, there is an area for monthly flex hours labeled: MTHLY FLEX. This area should reflect 0.00 unless the company has notified the APFA that there will be a flex month per JCBA 10.D.13.d. For the first 15 days of May, PHL Reserves showed 3.00 (3 hours) in the monthly flex area, which could have allowed the company to force PHL Reserves to a 93-hour cap and a calling out of time requirement of 88.01.
We immediately contacted the National Scheduling and Contract Chairs at APFA. The company was contacted for a correction and an explanation. As of today, there hasn’t been an explanation from the Company why this happened. There was an update to correct this issue and a random spot check of HI1s revealed that the error has been corrected.
Please review your HI1 to ensure that the MTHLY FLEX area shows 0.00 and not 3.00. If you have any questions, please reach out to the PHL APFA Base reps, or the APFA National Contract and Scheduling Reps on duty.
