American Airlines: Respect Displaced and Commuting Flight Attendants!
Friday, June 23, 2023
One of the open issues in negotiations is the commuter policy. While we have secured some improvements, we still have not reached agreement. With all the base closings and reductions, many Flight Attendants are forced to commute, and management needs to hear from all Flight Attendants that we deserve an improved commuter policy.
Dear Brady,
It is time that American Airlines respect commuters. With base closings and displacements, commuting is a fact of life at American. Yet with changes to the revenue standby process and full flights, commuting to work has become harder than ever.
The commuting policy at American Airlines is substandard and needs to improve. The policy needs to reflect the reality of commuting at American Airlines by having realistic requirements and allowing reasonable rules for commuting on other airlines. We urge American Airlines management to resolve these issues at the bargaining table and demonstrate that displaced Flight Attendants and commuters are a valued part of the workforce.
American Airlines, let’s update our contractual commuter policy to reflect our changing industry and move one step closer to securing the contract we deserve.Â
