6.24.23 – APFA DCA Base Brief – DCA Allocations Survey
DCA Allocations Survey
Saturday, June 24, 2023
It’s no secret that the sequence construction at DCA, BWI, and IAD has been undesirable for many years. We have advocated for much better trips and have seen some slight movement in the right direction. Many months we open the bid packet to find we have lost those improvements and see a decline in what we deem desirable or acceptable.
As the demographics of our base are changing, we would like to have you complete the attached survey. Let your leadership know what you would like to bid for and how you would like the bid packet to look.
We understand that seniority plays a big part in what you can hold, but most of our trips could improve for all seniorities alike. We must have statics and numbers to back up our conversations with management.
We have invited the senior manager of Crew Scheduling Optimization to visit our base this summer. We will share the results of this survey, a comprehensive list of concerns, and our wish list.
We won’t achieve everything we ask for, but we will continue to have your voices heard. Our schedules and workdays are important to all of us. Our concerns include the aircraft type we fly, number of duty periods, number of days away, (TAFB) layover cities and destinations, sit times, duty day lengths, and overnight length.
The survey has general questions but will give us a clear direction on what interests you most.
Please take the time to complete the recommended survey, which closes on July 20, 2023 @noon ET. Email us with concerns or suggestions at [email protected].
Are You Dues Current in Order To Vote?
Federally mediated negotiations begin next week. As we enter this critical phase in negotiations, it is imperative that all members are in good standing. You must be an active member in good standing to participate in Union activities such as voting.
*New Option: Payment Arrangements
Your APFA Board of Directors recently passed policy implementing a payment arrangement program for members with balances over $82 (two months of dues). For more information on setting up payment arrangements, reference the recent APFA National Treasurer’s hotline here.
How can I check my dues balance?
You must log into APFA.org to see your balance. To log in, select ‘Log In’ from the right corner. Log in using your employee number and password (if you don’t remember your password or you have not yet set one, select ‘Forgot Password’). We must have a valid personal email address on file (AA email is not allowed) for your account to be active. If you do not have an email address on file or if the email address is incorrect, please email [email protected].
