August 2023 ORD Staffing and Allocations
Tuesday, July 4, 2023
It’s already time for August Staffing and Allocations!!
We hope everyone is having a good summer so far. This year we have seen a lot happening, and it continues to be busy. Thank you to everyone in Chicago who is talking with one another about negotiations, the importance of being able to vote (dues current) and staying informed!
If you haven’t already, go to APFA.org and log in so you can take the latest poll. Some questions asked, “Since January of 2022 have you contacted your AFSM?If so, how long did it take for the AFSM to respond (not including an automatic response)?” and “Overall, do you feel valued, respected, and supported by AA Inflight management?” CLICK HERE!
Staffing
The company took the opportunity to cite general improvements in Reserve utilization in recent months, which helps keep higher Reserve numbers at bay. If we were all given more flexibility with schedules in the form of a lower TCR, we would all have more wiggle room in our schedules.
The Reserve percentage is 22.1% vs system average of 22.7%
The Reserve percentage is consistent with August 2022, despite an increase of over 8% in block hours from 2022.
The expected line average for Chicago at PBS open is expected to be 82.9 hours vs the system average of 83.0 hours. The drive for the increased block hours can be attributed to the summer flying and summer vacation.
Trip construction
- 1-day: 24% in August vs 24% in July

- ODAN Starts per day: 17.6 in August vs 15.3 in July
