Strike Authorization Vote
Chicago, have you HEARD? Your APFA Board of Directors unanimously authorized the APFA Negotiating Committee to conduct a strike authorization vote. Does this mean we are going on strike? No, but if approved, it would allow APFA to call a strike, if necessary, once released to self-help by the National Mediation Board.
What does this all mean? It means now more than ever, we MUST come together and show ourselves as a unified group to a Company that has yet to give us a cost-of-living increase or any quality-of-life improvements! Wear the red lanyard! Put the red bag tags on your luggage! Watch/read the negotiations Hotlines! And by now, you know what my next words are…pay your DUES so you can VOTE!
We have done a beautiful job of getting caught up on our dues, but over 250 of you here in ORD are in arrears. Two hundred fifty votes could be a deciding factor on whether a vote passes. You have a voice, and you deserve to have your voice heard. Many of you only owe $20.50. Come on now. Go to APFA.organd see if you have a balance. While there, please verify your contact phone numbers, personal emails, and mailing addresses.
Here are the next steps:
- Strike Authorization Vote opens July 28 and closes August 29.
- ORD Picket August 30
- August 1 – August 30, our Contract Action Team will be at O’Hare.
- Sign up here to volunteer.
Get fired up, Chicago! APFA is proudly joining other unions at their pickets, and we are looking for more support for ours. I expect an unprecedented showing of Flight Attendants on August 30! We are a base that takes pride in the job we do. We are deserving of greatness because we display excellence every single day. I have high expectations of our base. I expect to see every one of you wearing a red badge and to vote!
Let’s join together and show American Airlines what we are made of!
In Solidarity,
