9.01.23 – APFA PHL Base Brief – 36th Annual Tri-State Labor Day Parade And Family Celebration
Friday, September 1, 2023
Hello PHL,
APFA Members have been invited by the AFL-CIO to attend an opening worker’s rally prior to the Philadelphia Labor Day Parade and to march in the parade with our strike signs. This is a terrific opportunity to stand alongside our Sibling Unions in Philadelphia and to get our message out that we have successfully authorized a strike. President Joe Biden, among other prominent labor speakers, will be at the rally which not only garners massive publicity for our cause but gives us a venue to entreat the government powers who will release us to strike should that moment come. It’s not just Skyview; we need everyone to know that We Are Ready for our contract, and we are prepared to do what is necessary to achieve our contract.
Please join us on Monday morning for a solidarity rally with President Biden and the AFL-CIO, as well as marching in the parade itself. The initial gathering is at the Sheet Metal Workers’ Hall (1301 S. Columbus Blvd). Ideally, get there by 8:30am because everyone will have to go through security and the attendance will be high. Just know you are a part of all of this, and we have incredible support from the other unions and labor coalitions in PHL. Let’s get loud!
Please RSVP here if you can attend the rally, join APFA in the parade, or both.
In Solidarity,
Tracey Montanari
