Hello PHL!

We hope that you had a fantastic September and are enjoying October thus far. Here are a few updates regarding what to expect in November.

Staffing

For November, we have 2,364 active Flight Attendants. PHL is projected to have 14.9% of the base on Reserve, totaling 356 Flight Attendants. The LRD is currently open, showing a projected number of 320 Reserves as we are expecting 33 new hires who will join us in PHL for November. Of these 33, 12 new hires will bid in PBS, while the other 21 will join us throughout the month.

We look forward to having additional new hires in PHL and hope you will welcome them as they begin flying during our holiday season!

PIT Satellite Base

Our PIT flying has seen a slight increase in hours from October, totaling 4,781 hours in November compared to 4,667 in October.

Allocations

November brings 144,094 hours to PHL, down from 145,424 in October but up from November last year, which only had 125,210.

Doha, Qatar (DOH) officially operates daily in November on our 787-9 with 10 Flight Attendants. For those who bid “Prefer Positions Order” in PBS, please remember that position 10 is available and should be added if you wish to capture all positions for DOH.

Overall, we have seen a dip in one-day and two-day sequences for November compared to October. Three-day domestic sequences have increased, and four-day international sequences have increased due to DOH operating daily.

Keep an eye out for some Charters that may be added as the company finalizes plans.

November 2023 Bidding Timelines

ODANs

We see a notable decrease in ODAN hours for November, down to an average of 9.8 “positions per day” compared to October’s 22.3 “positions per day.” CLE, PIT, BOS, IND, DTW, BTV, and BGR will all be available ODANs to bid.

Special Notes

November will see some unique point-to-point flying throughout the system for college football which you may find built into some sequences.

Thanksgiving is on November 23rd this year, with reduced flying for PHL’s later banks on Thanksgiving Day and reduced flying the morning after. There is a significant spike in flying that Saturday and Sunday. The end of the month will see a drop-off in sequences.

Incentive Credit and Holiday Pay

Remember that the Critical Period for Attendance is separate from the Holiday Pay Incentive.

• FOR ATTENDANCE ONLY, the Critical Period in November is November 22nd through November 26th. This captures the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving through the Sunday following. Any absences during this period will accrue an additional point under the company’s Attendance and Performance Program. Likewise, operating all sequences, RAPs, or Standby Shifts during this period will earn an incentive credit (banked point) that can be used later to reduce a point-generating absence.
• FOR HOLIDAY PAY INCENTIVE, any flying performed on November 22nd, 23rd, 26th, and 27th will be paid 200% for any leg touching the day. ODANs will receive holiday pay for both legs if at least one leg touches these dates. Please note that these dates are different than the Critical Period and do not cover the Friday or Saturday following Thanksgiving. There is no attendance requirement to earn this incentive pay.

• The Inflight 3Q-4Q Quarterly WBT is due by November 7th.
• Before flying DOH, there is an assigned Read and Sign in Comply365 that must be completed.
• Keep an eye on MobileCCI for notifications related to updating your EFB iOS, Comply365 App, and IFM. Any time an update is required, an effective date is communicated. The company is auditing compliance for those that work a sequence with an EFB that is not up to date. **You must SYNC AGAIN after any update is performed.
