Fall APFA BOD Meeting
Last week your National Officers, Base Presidents, Base Vice Presidents, Negotiating Committee, Ad Hocs, National Chairs and APFA Members met at Headquarters for the Fall BOD Meeting. A variety of topics were discussed including the current Negotiations Status, Attendance and Performance Programs, Maternity & Paternity Leave, just to name a few. The Final Agenda items may be found on the APFA website. Minutes for this meeting will be published to the APFA website no later than thirty (30) business days after the conclusion of the meeting per Policy Manual Section 4.A.7.b.(3).
March on the Boss
During the Fall Board of Directors Meeting, the Board of Directors issued a Vote of No Confidence for Brady Byrnes, SVP of Inflight. National Officers, Base Presidents, Base Vice Presidents, Negotiating Committee, Ad Hocs, National Chairs and APFA Members, marched on the boss, Robert Isom, to deliver the letter of no confidence. While we were not able to deliver the letter directly to Isom, we located Brady Byrnes, and personally gave the letter of no confidence to him. It’s time for management to start listening to their flight attendants concerns instead of only issuing discipline. Read more here.
Negotiations Update
At the last negotiation session, the negotiators presented a comprehensive counter proposal on all economic and non-economic sections. The negotiating team is working to narrow the issues so that we can reach a tentative agreement or request the National Mediation Board to release us into a thirty-day cooling-off period. Check out negotiations update #36 here.
As always, you can see complete transparency into the negotiations process by reviewing the negotiations status page on the APFA website.
Wonderland Parking
Many of you may have heard from other Airline Employees or seen a communication from Massport regarding the addition of the Wonderland Parking Garage in Revere. Massport has included all airlines and all workgroups in this process. APFA FAs are not being singled out, BOS APFA made sure of that. There are 1250 Boston Logan Employees, across all airlines, that need to be issued New Parking or moved to Wonderland as that is the only alternative that Massport has provided. BOS APFA has already discussed our initial concerns, including safety and reliability, along with how this process will work with Elena, Beth Williams, Julie Hedrick, APFA legal and APFA Contract Chair. There are still MANY concerns remaining.
Please feel free to write to Elena Salinas, Beth Williams, Brady Byrnes and Robert Isom regarding your concerns and ideas. Until ALL the Logan Airport Airlines put pressure on Massport to provide an employee garage, this will continue to be an issue as the airport grows. For those who are utilizing Wonderland, it is imperative that we hear from you if you have any issues or concerns, please reach out to BOS APFA immediately.
APFA Solidarity Store
On October 6th, APFA opened its first online Membership Store. Within an hour the remaining stock of Red T-shirts had sold out. In addition to T-shirts, there is a variety of NEW APFA pins that may be worn with your Uniform (Breast Cancer Awareness, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage, APFA Pride, 9/11 20th Anniversary, APFA RED), Stickers, Lanyards and Bag Tags. APFA Headquarters will update the inventory in the coming weeks and will announce the restock of sold-out items. Show your #Solidarity! #UnionStrong.
APFA Dues and Membership
Whether voting for APFA National or Base Elections, APFA constitutional changes or a tentative agreement, you must be dues current. Take a moment to go to APFA.org, sign in, and click My Account. It only takes a moment to see your status. If you owe any money, you may make a payment right then. While looking at your APFA account, be sure to check that your mailing address, cell number and personal email address are all current. As a reminder, when emailing APFA in any capacity, please use your personal email only. More information and options for becoming dues current may be found in this June 2023 hotline from our National Treasurer, Erik Harris.
