A Message from Your LGA Base President

As a base, we have been experiencing many overwhelming incidents. We have all shared the grief of losing several beloved colleagues with whom we shared loving friendships. Two crews recently experienced a traumatic event that also impacted those of us awaiting their safe return. These events affect all bases, and we are expected to contemplate our safety while abroad or simply at any hotel, anywhere, at any given time. The APFA safety team has worked tirelessly to continue providing local leadership information vital to the support we provide all flight attendants. Please remember that EAP is a 24/7 confidential resource with trained peer representatives available to flight attendants.
The New York base has a history of coming together during difficult times. My responsibility does not stop with just resources we all have access to, and I need to ensure that members also have personal time with the base council. I have asked the current active base council representative, former National EAP Chair, former CIRT team member, and a trusted individual by many, Sharon Dunn, to organize a few Zoom sessions for anyone needing to share with others and to discuss essential plans that would strengthen your ability to have safe layovers and understand the importance of using all resources available to you when needed.
If you are interested, please email BCR Dunn at [email protected]. Please provide your name, employee number, and personal email so we can set times based on your availability. Please indicate the date of the week and times that works best for you.
Example:
SMITH EMP# 123456
MON WED THU
AM PM
Please fly safe and take care of one another.
In Solidarity,
Christian M. Santana
