11.06.23 – APFA PHL Base Brief – December 2023 Staffing and Allocations
December 2023 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Monday, November 6, 2023
Hello PHL!
We hope that you had a great Halloween and are looking forward to the upcoming holiday season. On November 3rd, we held the monthly allocations call and here are some updates of what to expect in December.
Staffing
December has 2,363 active Flight Attendants for PHL. We are projected to have 21.5% of the base on reserve which equates to 508 Flight Attendants. Of these reserves, 8 will be New Hires that we are welcoming to the PHL base and will be bidding in PBS so are included in the count and LRD numbers.
Allocations
December will have 139,948 hours in PHL, down from November’s 144,069 but up from December 2022 which had 129,986.
There has been a very slight decrease in three-day sequences with our one-days and two-days increasing to compensate. Four-days remain consistent with November.
For our IPD flyers, keep an eye on the holiday layovers. Some notables are FCO departing on the 22nd and 23rd having 74.35-hour layovers, making this a 5-day sequence. DUB, AMS, ZRH, and several others departing on the 23rd have extended layovers.
ODANs
There was a sharp decrease in ODANs, averaging only 2.1 positions per day meaning most days of the month do not have ODANs operating. IND is the most frequent operating daily on the 5th through the 15th. Â RDU, BTV, BOS, and CLE only have several frequencies during the month. Almost all of those frequencies are during the first half of the month.
PIT
Our PIT flying saw another bump up to 4,759 compared to November’s 4,667.
Incentive Credit and Holiday Pay
December has another period of both the Holiday Pay Incentive as well as the chance to earn an Incentive Credit (Banked point) under the company’s Attendance and Performance Program.
FOR ATTENDANCE ONLY the Critical Period runs from December 22nd through January 3rd. Any absences during this period will accrue an additional point under the company’s Attendance and Performance Program. Likewise, operating all sequences, RAPs, or Standby Shifts during this period will earn an incentive credit (banked point) that can be used later to reduce a point-generating absence.
FOR HOLIDAY PAY INCENTIVE any flying performed on December 24th, 25th, 26th, 31st, and January 1st will be paid a premium of 100% in addition to your base hourly rate for any leg that touches the day. ODANs will receive holiday pay for both legs if at least one leg touches those dates. There is no attendance requirement to earn this incentive pay. More information about Holiday Pay can be found in the Holiday Pay hotline.
Reminders
- The agent work group will be holding an informational picket on November 14th outside of A-West from 1100 to 1300. If you are available, we’d love to see you there to show solidarity with our fellow work groups as they work on their negotiations.
- November 16th is the date of our next picket from 1100 to 1300 outside of A-West. If you are off, on sit time, coming in from a trip or leaving for a trip later that afternoon, we ask that you show up in support of our negotiating team as we continue to fight for the contract we deserve.
- For our Reserves, beginning the week of November 6th, all required acknowledgments for Reserve awards and assignments must be done in Crew Portal. The company has advised that the ability to acknowledge awards/assignments will be removed from mobileCCI. Read the Change to Reserve Acknowledgements hotline for more details.
- Our office number is 215-360-3115. If you ever are in need of assistance, please call or text this number. Please provide your employee number and a brief description of your situation or question when leaving a message or texting, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
