Spending Accounts Transitioning to Fidelity

During Annual Enrollment, American Airlines announced that it is transitioning the administrative services for its spending accounts from Alight Smart-Choice Accounts to Fidelity Investments, effective January 1, 2024.

The accounts included in the transition to Fidelity are:

• Health savings account (HSA).
• Health care flexible spending account (HCFSA).
• Limited purpose flexible spending account (LPFSA).
• Dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA).
• Health reimbursement arrangement (HRA).
• Retiree health reimbursement arrangement (RHRA).
• Commuter account.

***Take note of these key dates for the transfer of your specific spending accounts to Fidelity. Retirees, please note that no action is required on your part at this time.***

For those with HRA accounts, once you have completed your annual preventive exam by December 31, American Airlines will contribute credits to your HRA. If you elected the Plus medical option for the first time for 2024, this means that your NetBenefits AccessCard® will not have any HRA credits until you complete your annual preventive exam. If you do not have funds in any other spending account and try to use the NetBenefits AccessCard® before the credits have been contributed to your HRA, your transaction will be denied.
