Hello PHL!

And just like that, we are already looking at January 2024!

Voluntary Leave of Absence (VLOA)

It has been a long time since we have seen VLOAs offered. In January, we are expecting VLOAs to be awarded in PHL.

Bidding for January 2024 full month, unpaid VLOAs will close Thursday, December 7 at 1200 (CT). You may access the ballot in Comply365 > My Forms > AAFA > FA Voluntary Leave of Absence (VLOA).

Staffing

Allocations

January 2024 will have 140,563 hours in PHL. This is an increase from December’s 139,948 and an increase from January 2023 which had 128,811.

There has been a very slight decrease in 3-day sequences. The 1-Days, 2-Days, and 4-Days will see an increase to compensate.

IPD Schedule Pauses

There are scheduled pauses for our IPD schedule in January.

• BCN will not be operating from January 8 through February 14.
• CDG is not operating January 15 through January 29.
• FCO is not operating PHL departures on January 1st, 3rd, and 5th. There will be no PHL arrivals on January 2nd, 4th, and 6th. FCO will not operate from January 15 through February 10.
• MAD is not operating PHL departures on January 1st, 3rd, and 5th. There will be no PHL arrivals on January 2nd, 4th, and 6th. MAD will not operate from January 15 through February 10.
• ZRH is not operating PHL departures on January 2nd, 4th, and 7th. There will be no PHL arrivals on January 1st, 3rd, 5th. ZRH will not operate from January 23 through February 16.

Additionally, expect drastically different departure and arrival times for LIS throughout the month.

ODANs

There was a slight increase in ODANs, averaging 4.1 positions per day. BOS, BTV, and RDU are the ODANs operating throughout January.

PIT

Our PIT flying saw another slight drop to 4,721 hours compared to December’s 4,759.

Incentive Credit and Holiday Pay

FOR ATTENDANCE ONLY, the Critical Period runs from December 22nd through January 3rd. Any absences during this period will accrue an additional point under the company’s Attendance and Performance Program. Likewise, operating all sequences, RAPs, or Standby Shifts during this period will earn an incentive credit (banked point) that can be used later to reduce a point-generating absence.

FOR HOLIDAY PAY INCENTIVE, any flying performed on January 1st will be paid a premium of 100% in addition to your base hourly rate for any leg that touches the day. ODANs will receive holiday pay for both legs if at least one leg touches those dates. There is no attendance requirement to earn this incentive pay.
