LAX is middle-of-the-pack systemwide by Reserve percentage. LAX and PHX continue to experience the highest seniority of Reserves in the system. In LAX, this is due entirely to the Company refusing to return our displaced Flight Attendants, followed by the opening of vacancy transfers and the assignment of new hires.

Our LAX total base block hour rose from April to May, and the flight activity at LAX certainly justifies the return of our displaced Flight Attendants.

Numerous requests to the Company for headcount growth at LAX are met with the usual noncommittal responses. The Company could easily transfer our displaced Flight Attendants back to LAX without creating a ripple anywhere in the system.

Given the high cost and the scarcity of hotel rooms in Los Angeles for layover crews, it makes economic sense to increase our LAX headcount.

Month-Over-Month Comparison (April 2024 vs May 2024)

1-day increased from 22% to 26%
2-days Decreased from 34% to 31%
3-days decreased from 35% to 34%
4-days remain constant at 10% month-over-month

Based on feedback, 4-day trips remain unpopular, and we will continue to argue for a reduction, with the time being shifted to turns and productive 2- or 3-days.

Negotiations

AA management can EASILY afford to give us a contract that meets our needs…not only for today but for years to come.

AA management can EASILY afford to relieve us from their draconian Reserve system through work rule improvements and humane treatment.

AA management can EASILY afford to reduce reserve seniority at high seniority bases such as LAX and PHX.

AA management can EASILY afford to give us relief in the form of work rule improvements, which enhance our work lives and restore our flexibility.

AA management can EASILY afford to give us improvements that enhance…and return flexibility to…our work lives.

AA management can EASILY afford to pay us FULL retro pay for a contract that should have been negotiated long ago.

While management takes their bonuses, WE continue to get starved out.

While management remains tucked comfortably away in the opulence of AA HDQ, we work understaffed on dirty, hot airplanes…delivering a substandard product…while bearing the brunt of perpetual passenger dissatisfaction.

We are micro-managed as if we are robots who need no sleep, no sustenance, and no respect.

The company fails daily in its obligation to us. Yet if WE are one minute late “swiping in”…even if no delay results…WE are interrogated and punished.

What does it mean to STRIKE?

WHEN WE STRIKE, we say NO to the contractual crumbs that management throws our way.

But it goes MUCH deeper than that…

WHEN WE STRIKE, we are saying NO to AA management’s pattern of disrespect, dismissiveness, and mistreatment.

AA management seeks to wear us down and wear us out. They strive to crush our souls and destroy our hope for a better future. But we will NOT give up.

In 1993, they ALL said we couldn’t do it. But we DID, and we CAN again.
