4.08.24 – APFA PHL Base Brief – May 2024 Staffing and Allocations
May 2024 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Monday, April 8, 2024
Hello PHL,
Our monthly staffing and allocations call took place on Wednesday, April 3rd, for the May bidding month. Our flying hours increased slightly to 154,533 compared to April, which had 149,437 flying hours.
STAFFING
The expected line average is 82.2. Unfortunately, we still do not have any New Hire Flight Attendants joining our ranks for May. The company has placed our reserve percentage at 17.4. That means that we are expected to have 424 Flight Attendants on reserve for May. The number may fluctuate a bit based on bidding behaviors.
IPD
NCE begins daily service on May 6th. One crew will DH PHL-NCE and enjoy the standard 24 hour layover while another crew will work the flight PHL-NCE and enjoy a 48 hour layover. Look closely so you bid the correct trip you would like to fly.
ATH will begin on the May 4th. You will DH to position PHL-CLT-JFK with a 20 hour layover, then JFK-ATH the following day with a 25 hour layover. There is only one Greek speaker bid position.
DOH will return to being staffed with 10 F/A’s beginning May 3rd!
WIDE BODY DOMESTIC FLYING
We do have some domestic flying on the 787. DFW turns, a few LAX 2-days, and a few LAX turns are available to bid.
ODAN’s
We have an increase of ODAN’s for May. BOS (2 flights), RDU, IND, PIT, BTV, PVD, and BDL are available to bid. Please note that the BOS sequences and the BDL sequence will be staffed with 4 F/A’s each.
Reminder- PBS requires 11+30 if you Waive Minimum Domicile Rest. When bidding ODANs in PBS, and wanting to back them up on the same date, it is recommended to use two waivers found under the LINE TAB: Allow Multiple Pairings and Waive Minimum Domicile Rest. The first waiver allows two sequences to release and report on the same date.  The second waiver reduces the amount of time free from duty (release from the first sequence to report for the second sequence) to 11:30.
PIT SATELLITE
PIT will see a very modest increase in flying of just 37 hours for May. April had 4,693 hours and May has 4,656 hours of flying.
MAY HOLIDAYS
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12th.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 27th.
These holidays will most likely result in high coverage needed days. A link to the PBS Guide for additional bidding information is found on the PBS Dashboard at the bottom of the page. Coverage Needed Days information is located under Holiday Bidding for Lineholders/Reserves.
