6.03.24 – APFA ORD Base Brief – July 2024 Staffing and Allocations
July 2024 ORD Staffing and Allocations
Monday, June 3, 2024
Happy Monday, Chicago.
This week has tested all of us, to say the least. Let us start by saying thank you for handling this last week professionally, while holding the company accountable. IROPS are not new to this industry. IROPS happen. Using IROPS as an excuse to treat us poorly, ignore our customers and violate our contract is unacceptable. Sidenote, Happy Flight Attendant Appreciation Day.
Continue to fill out the IROPS form with APFA, we need documentation of the countless violations, hours on hold, and firsthand accounts of the contractual violations that occurred over the last week. IROPs Reporting Form
In the coming days and weeks, keep an eye on your MyView for performance and attendance related infractions related to this debacle. If something appears that should not be on your record, immediately follow up with your manager. If they do not handle the situation appropriately, reach out to your base reps for guidance.
The contractual month is July 1st – July 31st. Remember, July 1st through July 7th is the Critical Period. To receive your banked point, you must fly a trip(s) during those days (serving RAPs also count), but you cannot have any absences during this period. Review Americans Attendance and Performance Policy for more information or reach out to [email protected].
Allocations
30% of July flying is wide body flying made up of domestic and international sequences.
The ODAN departures have decreased from the peak numbers that we saw for June. They are at a more reasonable number, that will be more easily covered by the base. As always, we will watch how these numbers are affecting open time.
Important dates:
July 4th – Independence Day
July 1 – 7 – “critical” period for attendance
Staffing
July is one of the busiest months for the airline, and that means we will see that reflected in the line averages and RSV numbers.
The reserve percentage for Chicago is 22.9% vs system average of 23.9%
The expected line average for Chicago at PBS open is expected to be 83.8. The system average is 83.2. The high line average is driven by the increase in block hours for July, based on the summer flying.
Turn percentages continue to miss the target of 30%, they are at 23% for July. We continue to ask for an increase in turn and 2-day flying.
The month of July we will continue to welcome new hires to base, 25 are included in the staffing numbers for July.
