All,
Bid Sheet and Staffing
The Contractual Bid Month for August is August 1st – August 30th. The August schedule change takes place on August 6th.
Reserve Projections:
We are projected to have 799 Reserves for August, which represents 22.7% of the base. Our Reserve numbers are .03% higher than July, and 1.3% higher than August 2023.
Yesterday, Class 24-15 graduated from training. They will report to base and begin flying on July 9th. This is the last training class scheduled for this year so far. American has also halted new hire Pilot training. This will begin to drive the seniority of the Reserve list higher as Flight Attendants move on to rotations and from one-on, one-off.
The Reserve opening seniority for July was 10 February 2022. The Reserve opening seniority for August is 13 May 2019.
Going forward, we are making Reserve Projections its own category in the base briefs to keep you updated.
Flying Summary:
EZE will operate daily on the 777-200. GIG will operate daily on the 777-200. GRU will operate two daily flights with a Rocket on the 787-8, and a 38-hour layover on the 777-300. LHR will operate two daily flights, both now on the 777-300. BCN will operate daily on the 787-8, and MAD operates on the 777-200.
For domestic, the LAX 777-300 will now be a 20-hour layover, day trip on the return. There is a PHL turn on the 787 with a 4.30 hour sit that is scheduled for a day room hotel, and a DFW turn daily on the 777-200. There will be no NIPD wide-body flying. We continue to ask Allocations to push more wide-body flying into our base but the lack of wide-bodies in the domestic operation is problematic.

More Than a Three (3) Hour Delay (After Report)
JCBA Section 10.J.8. – “When a flight departure is delayed for more than three (3) hours, the Flight Attendant who is scheduled for such flight shall not be required to stand by and shall be relieved of duty at her/his request, provided that other Flight Attendants are available to replace her/him without increasing the delay. A Flight Attendant desiring to be released shall remain on duty until the relief Flight Attendant reports for duty. A Flight Attendant exercising this option shall forfeit any pay and credit that may be accumulated under any other Paragraph in Section 10.”
This provision applies at sequence origination only, not mid-sequence. You are not entitled to Call Out pay or pay protection, but you will receive the Duty Rig from report to release. Section 11.D.5. states, “A Flight Attendant shall receive a minimum of one (1) hour of pay and credit for every two (2) hours of actual on-duty time prorated on a minute-by-minute basis of actual on-duty time.”
Example: You are delayed for more than three hours and request to be removed from your sequence. You reported at 1000 and are relieved and released at 1400. Your four hours on duty would generate two hours of pay. Once released, contact Crew Scheduling to ensure your release time is added so pay for the duty day can be added. If the pay is not generated by closeout, submit a Direct Connect.
Direct Connect
As a reminder, Direct Connect has been relocated to the Links tab in Crew Portal only.
Incentive Point (Bank Point)
The critical period for July is July 1 – July 7.
Flight Attendants that work all operational assignments (sequences, airport standby assignments, Reserve Availability Periods (RAPs), and special assignments) and have no absences or removals (e.g., Sick, FMLA, Jury Duty, Military, Personal, Bereavement, etc.), including pre-planned absences and removals, on days during a critical period accrue one (1) incentive point that will reduce a future point-generating dependability event.
You may earn up to three (3) incentive points per year. Incentive points are unlimited and do not expire.
Partial Trip Cancellations (XR)
When you have one or more legs that are canceled in a sequence and have a removal code (XR), the legs are audited and paid onto your schedule by Pay Comp by close-out which occurs the subsequent month on the 9th.
Call-Out Pay
When you are entitled to call-out pay, you must contact Crew Schedule to have it put on your schedule. Direct Connect will deny your claim without Crew Schedule approval.
If your sequence is pay protected, you do not receive call-out and sequence pay. You will receive the greater of the two, not both.
Double-Ups
You are not necessarily illegal for your second sequence on a double-up if you are not going to make sign-in from your inbound trip. You must make every effort to make the departure.
Reserve Carryover Waiver
If you have carryover time into a reserve month, you have the option to have those hours paid above your guarantee. The carryover days of the trip are considered part of your twelve (12) days off.
The waiver is found under the RSV Days Off tab in PBS.
