7.09.24 – APFA LGA Base Brief – Rising COVID-19 Cases at LGA
Rising COVID-19 Cases at LGA
Tuesday, July 9, 2024
While I’ve been away, I’ve noticed an increase in LGA Flight Attendants testing positive for COVID-19. It’s crucial to prioritize our health and call in sick when necessary. American Airlines doesn’t offer paid sick leave for Flight Attendants with COVID-19. As the base president, I’m committed to upholding your rights in New York State during this ongoing and now resurging pandemic.
Remember, no matter where you live, if you are based at LGA, you qualify for NYS COVID-19 PAID SK LEAVE.

If you have already used up your three allotted shots at the life of the law, you can use the COVID-19 Company Policy. This policy will cancel out attendance points and reinstate any holiday points used during your absence. You can also use your sick time to cover the time lost when using the COVID-19 company policy.
VERY IMPORTANT – YOU HAVE 2 MANAGERS
Crew Attendance Manager: Attendance matters
Crew Manager: Performance matters.
The two do not work together and often receive communications from the other party. This issue is usually discovered just before termination occurs, which is then revealed in the investigation.
New Hires on Probation have 1 NH Performance Manager.
American Airlines does not publish specific email and contact information for CREW ATTENDANCE MANAGERS (ATTENDANCE) on the flight service site, unlike the CREW MANAGER (PERFORMANCE) for performance, which they have been doing for over two decades.
Flight Attendants only see the general CAM email, not their crew manager’s specific email. I have repeatedly brought this issue to the National Vice President and the board of directors. As a result, I filed a base grievance, and I am finally seeing progress in the PRE-DRC stage. In the meantime, and while we are dealing with this surge in COVID-19 cases, I am providing you with their individual contact information.
