8.06.24 – APFA PHL Base Brief – September 2024 Staffing and Allocations
September 2024 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Tuesday, August 6, 2024
Hello PHL,
August is here and WE HAVE A TA (Tentative Agreement)! It has been a long and hard-fought battle. Now is the time to educate ourselves and exercise our right to vote. For the most up to date information, go to APFA.org. The best way to learn about our TA and stay informed is to visit the Tentative Agreement Website at APFA.org/ ta2024.
The APFA Negotiating Committee is coming to PHL on Wednesday, August 14th from 10:30 AM until 2:30 PM at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott. Bring your questions, concerns, and be ready to receive all the information needed to make an informed decision.
It is imperative that you make sure your email and home address is correct on APFA.org and your dues are up to date. We want everyone to be able to vote.
Our monthly allocations call took place on Saturday. Here is what we know for September bidding:
Unpaid Voluntary Leave of Absence (VLOA)
Unpaid VLOA’s are being offered for September. Bidding will close tomorrow, Wednesday, August 7 at 12pm (CT). You can find the VLOA form in Comply365 > My Forms > AAFA > FA Voluntary Leave of Absence (VLOA). Unpaid VLOAs for September Hotline.Staffing
September has a line average of 77.9 system wide. PHL is projected to have a line average of 77.5. There will be no new hires system wide for the month of September. Reserve numbers will drop to an estimated 432 (17.7%).
Allocations
ODANs
There is a significant decrease in ODAN flying. PHL’s late-night bank will be earlier in September. Late-night departures combined with early morning departures are what create the need for ODANs. Earlier departures in the evening allow more time for legal rest between the arrivals and departures at the destination city. BOS, RDU, DTW, BGR, BTV, PIT, PWM, PVD, BDL, and BUF are available to bid. They do not operate every day so please review the bid packet carefully.
IPD
Good news! DOH will be staffed with 10 Flight Attendants for the September bid month. There also will be a 4-day charter to Sao Paulo (GRU) departing Wednesday, August 04. It will be sequence 721 on the 777 and staffed with positions 1-11. There also will be a 3-day trip to GRU (Sequence. 718) on the 787 departing September 05. Sadly, ATH will end September 4th. Sequence 711 departing on the 3rd will be the last departure for the season. The return flight will be a deadhead through ORD.
Domestic Wide-body Flying
There will be 2 domestic 787 2-day charters on the 21st and 28th of September. The 787 will also have several DFW turns throughout the month as well as a DFW 2-day trip that operates on most days during month.
PIT Satellite
PIT flying will increase by 60 hours to 4,733 hours.
