Hey Chicago!

Happy August. We hope you are staying safe and enjoying the end of summer. Voting for the Tentative Agreement is now open. Voting closes September 12th at 1200 CT. You have the right to vote for what you feel is best for you! Please continue to ask questions, read the information available on the APFA website, watch the town halls, call the TA call center, and be mindful of the misinformation social media may bring. Democratic National Convention

The DNC will be hosted in Chicago this week, Monday, August 19-22. The Convention will be held at the United Center and is expected to bring an estimated 50,000 people to the Chicago area. Due to the event’s political nature, protests and additional road closures are possible. There will be many high-level political figures transiting through the city and O’Hare, which will cause a flurry of traffic and airspace issues. Please allow extra time due to added road congestion or additional security measures at O’Hare. Late Reports via CCI 

We have seen a severe uptick in Late Reports (LRs) related to Mobile CCI not fully registering the sign in. It is frustrating when the Company provided tools are not working properly. Until the issue has been resolved, please continue to take a screenshot of your sign in. Once you sign in, you should see a * next to your name, indicating your sign in was accepted.

If you receive an LR and have proof that you signed in on time, send an email to [email protected] with your evidence asking for removal of the LR.  If you are unable to have the LR removed despite clear proof via company provided tools, forward your email to [email protected] or [email protected].

Meetings with Management – Right to Representation

You are always entitled to union representation when you have a disciplinary meeting with the company – JCBA 35.R. Even those on probation. You are also entitled to representation. Please reach out to us to coordinate a meeting, even if your Crew Manager tells you the meeting isn’t a big deal. Contact us at our APFA email addresses or via the base contact phone number at 773-645-0809. We are here to support you. Remember, AA emails are company owned. Utilize our APFA emails using your personal email address. Most importantly, our conversations, texts and emails are confidential.

Personal and Crew Safety

Our crew is our family while we are at work. On duty or on our layovers, we are on company time. Remain vigilant, be mindful of your actions and stay aware of your surroundings while out and about on your layover. Please, please leave your mobile number with a crew member and let someone know where you are going. Verify who is listed as your emergency contact and update that information if needed.

The APFA Safety department has worked to create a new, quick and immediate way to reach out when there is a critical event while you are on duty. American Airlines is responsible for us when we are on duty, the Union needs to be informed of critical incidents to best help our members.
