APFA Supplemental Insurance Update

If you carry any supplemental benefits sponsored by APFA, we must inform you of several upcoming changes.

Transition to Colonial Life

Beginning September 1, 2024, all existing policies with American Public Life will be moving to a new carrier, Colonial Life. The primary driver for this change is another two years of guaranteed rates. The brokerage team that works for APFA is tasked with shopping our policies to find the best rates and coverage. During this transition and future open enrollments, you’ll be encouraged to change your payment method to credit card payment or direct account withdrawal to prevent future errors in billing.

Aflac Dental Policy Termination

Aflac is terminating their coverage for all Dental group policies effective 10/1/2024. You must contact the APFA supplemental benefit customer service team to cancel all billing related to Aflac Dental. If you need or seek dental treatment, you have until 10/1/2024 to make a claim.

Aflac Whole Life Insurance and 5 Star Life Insurance Payment Method Changes

If you carry Aflac or 5 Star Whole Life Insurance and wish to continue coverage, contact the APFA Supplemental Benefit customer service team to change your payment method. Your rates and coverage remain the same. Changing your payment method will help avoid billing issues and coverage cancellation.

Upcoming Open Enrollment for Supplemental Coverage

Whether you’re an existing policyholder looking to change your current coverages or recently considering supplemental coverage for the first time, APFA will sponsor another open enrollment in January 2025.
