APFA Endorses Vice President Harris
in 2024 Presidential Election
Wednesday, September 25, 2024
Today, the APFA Executive Committee unanimously voted to endorse Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President of the United States. This endorsement is a testament to the Biden-Harris Administration’s steadfast support for the rights and safety of Flight Attendants and working families nationwide.
With the office of the President impacting the job security, bargaining rights, and safety of all Flight Attendants, APFA recognizes the critical role that the administration plays in advocating for labor rights. The Biden-Harris Administration has consistently championed Flight Attendants’ rights to strike under the Railway Labor Act, a key factor in achieving a tentative agreement for our members, resulting in $4.2 billion in economic improvements. APFA thanks National Mediation Board (NMB) Member Linda Puchala, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg for their involvement in our negotiations, which ensured APFA reached a collective bargaining agreement that met the economic needs of our members.
Vice President Harris has a long history of supporting middle-class families, advocating for living wages, women’s rights, affordable healthcare, and the fundamental right to join a union free from employer interference. Her track record as a state Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and Vice President demonstrates her commitment to workers’ rights and social justice. The selection of Governor Tim Walz as Vice President further strengthens this commitment, highlighting his dedication to labor rights, public education, and the rights of marginalized communities.
APFA recognizes the various factors that impact how our members vote in this upcoming election. We encourage all Flight Attendants to register to vote as soon as possible and participate in early voting before the November 5th election.
As the 2024 Presidential election approaches, the contrast between candidates on issues affecting Union members and the middle class is evident. APFA stands firm in its support for national leadership that prioritizes the rights and well-being of workers in our continued fight against corporate greed.
The APFA PAC is a separate fund that helps elect bipartisan candidates who will stand up on issues that affect Flight Attendants. We never use APFA dues money to support political candidates or elections. APFA PAC contributions are completely voluntary and participating is a simple action you can take to ensure that we elect officials who support our jobs and our issues in their positions of power.
