Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA)
Endorses Kamala Harris and Tim Walz
[Euless, TX] — Today, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), representing the 28,000 American Airlines Flight Attendants, endorsed Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President of the United States. This endorsement is a testament to the Biden-Harris Administration’s steadfast support for the rights and safety of Flight Attendants and working families nationwide.
With the office of the President impacting the job security, bargaining rights, and safety of all Flight Attendants, APFA recognizes the critical role that the administration plays in advocating for labor rights. The Biden-Harris Administration has consistently championed Flight Attendants’ rights to strike under the Railway Labor Act, a key factor in achieving a tentative agreement for our members, resulting in $4.2 billion in economic improvements.
“Most recently, the Biden-Harris administration leadership played a critical role in the American Airlines Flight Attendant contract negotiations, pushing American management to increase the economic package offered and get a deal done,” said APFA National President Julie Hedrick. “Thank you to National Mediation Board (NMB) Member Linda Puchala, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg for their efforts.”
Vice President Harris has a long history of supporting middle-class families, advocating for living wages, women’s rights, affordable healthcare, and the fundamental right to join a union free from employer interference. Her track record as a state Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and Vice President demonstrates her commitment to workers’ rights and social justice. The selection of Governor Tim Walz as Vice President further strengthens this commitment, highlighting his dedication to labor rights, public education, and the rights of marginalized communities.
As the 2024 Presidential election approaches, the stark contrast between candidates on issues affecting union members and the middle class is evident. APFA stands firm in its support for national leadership that prioritizes the rights and well-being of workers in our continued fight against corporate greed.
