Jury Duty Presidential Grievance
APFA is pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement on the APFA Jury Duty Presidential Grievance.
This was a long-fought battle over the interpretation of Jury Duty pay post-PBS, in which the company asserted that only conflicts with PBS-awarded sequences were eligible for Jury Duty Pay.
This settlement confirms that if a Flight Attendant submits a Jury Duty summons after the PBS award for the applicable month, the Flight Attendant will receive planned absence(s) and jury duty pay for scheduled sequences (including sequences picked up on ETB, TTS), unless clear and convincing evidence exists to demonstrate that the Flight Attendant picked up trips on ETB/TTS after having received knowledge of the Jury Duty summons.
Grievance Withdrawal Agreement
AA and APFA, in the recent negotiations of the newly ratified Tentative Agreement, agreed to a Letter of Agreement withdrawing the following Presidential Grievances:
- SS-173-2022-PHL-52 Holding Trips from ROTA ad ROTA/D
- SS-104-2022-AAL-1 Management Grievance
- SS-76-2021-APFA-1 Crew Accommodations and Transportation
- SS-16-2019-APFA-1 Programming of Contractual Language
- SS-188-2018-APFA-9 Implementation of ETB/TTS/UBL
The ratification of our new CBA marks a significant milestone for our Union. As part of this process, we have withdrawn several Presidential Grievances, as our CBA addresses many of the concerns in the withdrawn grievances. This is a common practice in negotiations, allowing us to move forward with resolving issues through our new CBA.
